Gordon Benoit founded D3 in 2002, pioneering the vision to build completely configurable systems for organizations and set customers free to fine-tune the software for their businesses' specific needs amidst constantly changing regulations, threats, reporting and compliance issues.
To meet this challenge, Gordon and his team developed a framework to allow customers to build any form they desire, add workflows to the forms, and build compelling trend reports and dashboards. Another goal was to build a system which end users could maintain without the need for D3 consultants or IT resources. Today the D3 system meets these goals, applying its unique framework to an ever growing portfolio of products.
D3 has a unique business model within the software industry in that D3 tries to minimize consulting effort incurred by clients to build and maintain D3 software. Gordon believes that large consulting revenue within a software company masks inherent flaws in design. It should not take a team of consultants to alter software to meet changing needs. D3’s strong historical growth has been through product sales with a small consulting component.
Gordon strongly believes in product innovation and allocates 50% of revenue towards R&D. He has over 20 years’ experience growing successful technology companies, operating under the same theme: Find an underserved niche, become the undisputed leader in the market, and provide excellent service consistently.
In the software business you only have 3 assets: Your people, your product and your customers. Gordon hires the best and brightest individuals and challenges them to go beyond what they think is possible to build cutting-edge products in an effort to secure new customers and continue to grow the company.
Gordon has a Bachelor’s Degree in Systems and Finance from McGill University.
Min Lu leads a talented team of software engineers. Under Min’s leadership D3 has solved architectural database and application design issues which have plagued some of the largest software companies. Min and his team developed a system which allows end users to create any data input form, add any workflow to the form, and allow end users to query any field within the form for trending purposes. The result is a product which allows D3 customers total flexibility to design a system which meets their exact needs. Moreover, the D3 system adapts to changing requirements and can be maintained by a non-technical user.
In recognition of these breakthroughs, the Federal Government of Canada has contributed millions of dollars of research grants to allow D3 to continue advancing its technologies.
Min inspires confidence in everyone who works for him. D3’s development team, of which 80% have Master’s Degrees, has remained intact since the earliest product releases.
Min has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China.
